The Way of Survival in an Intelligent Society
In Genesis, God gave every creature survival skills, but by the time He reached humans, all skills had been allocated, so He could only give them a bit of thought. In a world where the strong prey on the weak, thoughts cannot clothe, feed, or defend against beasts, so humans could only hide. The desire to survive sparked miraculous reactions in neurons, enabling humans to survive with simple consciousness. They used leaves to clothe themselves, distinguish edible fruits, and fight beasts with tools. Through learning and struggle, thoughts became more mature, evolving into planning, strategy, and organizational abilities. It took humans 8 million years to evolve from ancient apes to Homo sapiens, 50,000 years from Homo sapiens to modern humans, and 10,000 years to enter an agricultural society. Since the 18th century, it took only 200 years to enter an industrial society, and now we are stepping into an intelligent society.
In November 2022, OpenAI released ChatGPT, which was compared by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang to the iPhone moment of the mobile era. ChatGPT demonstrated the possibility of AI completing complex tasks—a development even God did not foresee, as simple thoughts evolved into the era of intelligence.
What God also didn’t foresee was the possibility of humans liberating consciousness from the body, achieving immortality in cyberspace. Following the accelerated pace of human evolution, it is likely that within about 50 years, consciousness immortality will be realized and self-sufficient evolution will occur in virtual spaces. For those born today, this is undoubtedly good news; 50 years from now, they will be in their prime, fully capable of choosing whether to leave the physical body for cyberspace. Those in their forties or fifties who wish to enter cyberspace 50 years from now must start preparing now. The threshold for entering cyberspace is high, and not all can enter equally; sufficient resources are needed.
Perhaps only the top 1% of global wealth holders will have the strength to choose whether to enter cyberspace. The most important aspect is mastering the survival skills of cyberspace. In cyberspace, acquiring knowledge and information is equal; personal assistants and clearly defined teams are no longer needed—what is needed is external cooperation. The only value humans will possess is the creation of new ideas. Everyone must strive to find breakthroughs at the unknown edge of human thought. Human thought is like an infinitely expanding spherical body, with each individual standing on its edge, dedicating their lives to gaining a new understanding for this sphere, which is the only way to survive on this planet. As for what kind of thoughts can be recognized as new by this sphere, it requires the approval of the digital residents of the entire sphere. This is akin to Zen meditation in Buddhism, where only by attaining new insights and gaining recognition from fellow monks can one achieve status in the field.
